Description
Western Lowland Gorilla
Average Lifespan: Up to 50 years.
Diet: Gorillas are vegetarians and eat plants, vegetables, and fruit.
Geography: Central Africa, near the mouth of the Congo River.
Babies: Females give birth to live young every 3.5-4.5 years and are typically pregnant for 8 to 10 months.
Conservation Status: Critically Endangered.
Interesting Fact: In the wild, gorillas form social groups called troops. Each troop is led by a single, dominant male called a silverback. Female gorillas tend to stay in the troop where they were born. Males, however, at the age of five to six years, will leave and join a group of other young males. The resulting group is called a Bachelor Troupe.

Amazing ! Just like Bokito who escaped from the zoo and dragged a lady around. She always visited him and pulled faces but than one day after she wanted to leave he jumped over the moat (being on an island) and...grabbed her...it was quite a big deal here....thanks for reminding me of this story some years ago :)))
